CaptionEdge ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how CaptionEdge handles your data.

1. No Automatic Data Collection

CaptionEdge does not automatically collect, store, or transmit any personal data, media files, or usage analytics. All app features run entirely on your device, and no photos, videos, or captions are uploaded to the cloud.

2. Local-Only Processing

All photo and video captioning is performed on-device. Your content:

  • Stays on your device and is never transmitted externally.
  • Is used solely to generate captions locally.
  • Remains private and fully under your control.

3. Facial Recognition and Face Data

CaptionEdge may use facial recognition to identify people in your photos and videos for personalized captions. All face data is processed and stored only on your device. The following explains what face data we collect, how it is used, where it is stored, and how long it is retained.

What face data does the app collect?

The app may collect and store face data only on your device. This includes (1) facial encodings (mathematical representations of facial features) derived from photos you choose to use when you add a person to your local face database and assign a name, and (2) temporary processing of faces in your photos and videos for matching purposes. The app does not collect or store face data on any server. No face data is transmitted off your device to us or anyone else.

How is face data used?

Face data is used solely to match faces in your photos and videos to the names you have associated in your local face database, so that the app can generate personalized captions (e.g., identifying people by name in captions). There are no other uses. All processing is performed locally on your device using a local model and a local facial database. We do not have access to your face data.

Is face data shared with third parties? Where is it stored?

Face data is never shared with, disclosed to, or sent to any third parties. It is not sent to us (Seapines AI), to any external servers, or to any other party. All face data is stored only on your device (your iPhone or iPad) in the app's local database. No user data, face data, photos, videos, or any other information leaves your device.

How long is face data retained?

Face data is retained only for as long as it remains on your device. You can delete individual entries from your local face database or delete the app at any time; when you do so, the corresponding face data is removed from your device. We do not retain any copy of your face data, because we never receive it.

4. Feedback and Optional Data Collection

If you choose to contact us through the app to provide feedback or report an issue, we may collect:

  • Your email address (if provided),
  • App version,
  • Device model and OS version,
  • Basic usage context (e.g., recent app actions or errors), to help us respond to your inquiry and improve the app.

This data is only sent with your explicit action and is used exclusively for support and troubleshooting purposes. It is not shared with third parties.

5. Advertising (Free Version)

The free version of CaptionEdge may show ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob's collection and use of data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Your photos, videos, captions, face data, and other content are never shared with advertising partners.

6. Permissions

CaptionEdge may request permission to access your photos and videos in order to generate captions. This permission:

  • Is used only for local processing.
  • Can be revoked at any time via your device's privacy settings.

7. Children's Privacy

CaptionEdge is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us, and we will promptly delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy occasionally. When we do, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top. Any material changes will be communicated through the app or App Store listing.
